Before everything, it is vital that I attribute whatever level of success I have accomplished, all to God. There are too many factors that come into play for my life to have gone the way it has and the same can be said for every single individual. I am a true believer in the fact, everything good that has come my way is a blessing and everything ‘bad’ has also been a blessing.
Secondly, I identify as a Muslim, British man and what has pushed me to endeavour on building my personal brand is to target the niche of business-minded, high-earning Muslim individuals. I may not have reached that second point yet, but I am working towards it and I pray that my journey can inspire others who won’t be compelled to compromise their faith when seeking to do so; instead, they’ll feel their imaan (faith) increase.
I had originally set out the goal to build my personal brand and so I purchased my domain in December 2022 with no real purpose, other than to dump my learnings and reflections. Two months later, I came across the Muslim, British and highly successful Bengali entrepreneur, Shaqir Hussyin which is when it struck me that no one I had been learning entrepreneurship and ‘success’ from, actually looked like me.
Then I reflected on all the people I’ve either met or have got to know online and found that everyone who was steadfast in their religion had a multitude of doors open for them in this life and the next inshaAllah – and that’s precisely the power that the deen (religion) holds. When you have strong yaqeen (certainty) and the willpower to increase your knowledge with a genuine love for Allah and his Rasool (messenger), you’ll find that doors will open.
The goal is now apparent – to inspire others to find their purpose and make their own difference in this world whilst providing myself and others with very relevant Islamic reminders along the way, as a means of khayr (goodness) for our hereafter.
I feel that many of us are too self-centred, including myself at times and as Muslims, this shouldn’t be the case at all. The saheeh (authentic) hadith, “Love for your brother what you love for yourself” has been compiled in the 40 Hadith of Imam An-Nawawi and is a hadith we should live upon.
I feel that this is one of the first rules we should apply to a business or when deciding on a career path, after acknowledging that we are working to gain the pleasure of Allah and with that, comes all the goodness that can be achieved as a result of earning that income. The victory of the ummah will only come through this principle, so let’s work towards it.
